Getting to and Around Woking: Trains, Roads and Parking

Woking owes much of its growth to its transport links. The town developed around its railway station after the line opened in 1838, and today it remains one of the fastest commuter connections in Surrey.

By train

Woking railway station sits on the London Waterloo to Portsmouth main line, with frequent direct services to London Waterloo, as well as Guildford, Portsmouth, Basingstoke, and the south coast. Fast trains reach central London in around half an hour, which is a large part of why the town is such a popular commuter base. The station is on the edge of the town centre, beside the Victoria Place development.

By road

The town is linked to the wider network by the A320 and A324, connecting to junction 11 of the M25 to the north-east. This gives quick access towards Heathrow, Guildford, and the motorway network.

Parking

The town centre is well served by multi-storey and surface car parks around the Peacocks Centre, Victoria Place, and the station. As with any busy town centre, charges apply and spaces fill on weekends and event nights at the New Victoria Theatre, so allow extra time.

Getting around locally

Local bus services link the town centre with neighbourhoods such as Goldsworth Park, Knaphill, Horsell, and Old Woking. The flat towpath of the Basingstoke Canal also provides a traffic-free route between several parts of the town.
